1. Tell us
a little about yourself? Well I am a born n' raised
Texan living in a "don't blink or you'll miss it" Texas town along
the gulf coast. I have 2 small children, a girl and a boy, that I
love dearly, and I work as an assistant to an Estate Planning and
Probate Attorney. I enjoy reading, writing, playing with my kiddos,
cross stitching, and well, making icons and chatting of course. Oh
and reality shows, talk about a guilty pleasure.
2. Why/how did you get started in making icons?
I started out by just wearing them by ordering from
other iconeers. Then I found out how much fun it was to find my own
images but didn't know the first thing about making an icon so I'd
just send them off to various iconeers to have them made up for me.
One day I decided to download a free program and well try my hand it
myself and so the addiction began.
3.
How long have you been making icons? Only for about a
year or so now and still with much to learn I'm
sure.
4. What program (s) do you use?
I currently use PhotoShop and ADORE it to no end.
5. Do you use filters and tubes? Any
favorites? I use filters a lot. I love how an effect
can just make an image pop!
6. Do you
prefer working with images that are already cut down to size that
the person wants or working with the original image?
I prefer to have the original if possible. If a
certain cut is wanted, just let me know and I'll do my best to
achieve it.
7. Do you like changing
backgrounds? Do you prefer to make your own or use backgrounds from
the net? Changing backgrounds is fun, but not always
necessary, and I mostly find backgrounds for the net and hope to
soon attempt to create my own.
8. What
kind of images do you prefer to work with? I'll work
with anything, as long as it's nice, clear and crisp.
9. What do you do when you just can’t
seem to get inspired with a specific icon? I save it,
let it sit a bit, sometimes sleep on it. If it's for myself
sometimes I just trash it or put it away until something sparks
inside and I get it done.
10. What are
your feelings about animation? I need to first off
learn animation, but I don't feel it's always necessary in an icon.
I rather have the image speak for itself.
11. Do you have a particular look in icons that you,
yourself go for? Dark hair, sexy, sensual.
12. Do you use a signature on your
work? I don't but wonder if maybe I should. I am a
proud Texan, maybe a Texas Star.
13.
Your biggest pet peeve about icons? If they are
stretched distorted, grainy.
14. When
you receive an order, do you prefer specific instructions or would
you rather just go with how the image makes you feel?
Both, some days I feel more creative other days I
rather be told what the person would like. It also has to do with
how well I know the person requesting.
15. Are there any colors you like or dislike working
with? Color ROCKS! The only thing I dislike is if
someone wants a particular portion of the image colored and it's
plain white. That is difficult to work with.
16. Are there any images you prefer not to work with?
Not that I can think of, unless it's illegal, I'll
deal with it.
17. Do you find all your
own images for your pages? Oh yes, I love the hunt
for great images
18. Do you like a
challenge in icon making? Always, makes me a better
iconeer for it and of course helps lead the way in learning new
things.
19. If there was only one font
you could use, what would it be? How many fonts do you have?
One font only I could use, gosh, would have to be
scriptina although I find Jane Austen to be nice as well. Currently
I have only 410 loaded, but many saved to CD's (Do I really need to
count them all?)
20. Anything else you
would like to add? I would just like to say thank
you. Thanks to all who have believed in me, thanks to those who have
allowed me to dress them. I have so much fun doing this and I hope
to learn more and become even better.
